Google Reader discontinued…

so if you’re using Google Reader to subscribe to my blog, or even reading THIS on Google Reader, you will need to have another option soon.

I have been an AVID user of Google Reader for several years, it makes me sad to see it go. Especially since I have so many feeds tied into it! If you are also a Google Reader user, you have a few options to keep up with the posts from this blog, and other blogs.

1. The best option to make sure you don’t miss anything, will be an email subscription. This means that the RSS feed that you’re used to seeing in your Reader will now go directly to your Inbox. I have the RSS email subscription set up and you can subscribe by clicking here: https://www.brookesummer.com/rss-to-email/ The email that you get will look very similar to what you’re used to seeing:

rss

The email is automated and you will receive it every Monday morning. As with any email updates, you have FULL CONTROL over what you get from me, your information is never sold or shared, and if you don’t want it, simply click unsubscribe.

2. You can move all of your Google feeds over to Feedly or another RSS service. Feedly is even offering a one-click Google Reader import on their homepage. I haven’t used Feedly extensively yet, but I have heard good things about it.

3. You can check the blog every day. :) Personally, this option is a little cumbersome for me. I follow a LOT of feeds, and to have to visit the actual website to see if there’s anything new when I have time to read seems extremely time consuming. But, it is still an option. :)

I realize this has nothing to do with my photography or my business, or even myself, but I do have a lot of subscribers and wanted to make sure that everyone is aware of the changes. Google Reader will be shut down as of July 1, so get your feeds moved over so nothing is lost! If you have any questions I will try to help, although I’m not an expert when it comes to this stuff. You can read a post from CopyBlogger that has more information about the transition if you’d like more information.

I would love to see all of you on the RSS email list, and can’t wait to keep in touch with everyone! I have some killer posts coming up. :)
