Denver Bridal Boudoir – How do YOU Take a Compliment?
I have a confession to make.
While I am usually VERY good at following up with my clients via email and phone, when they send me a compliment or nice words, I freeze, and don’t respond.
What the HECK? I realize how ridiculous this is, because they just spent the time to send me something nice – but I freeze and don’t know what to say, so I don’t say anything. I received a beautiful email from a gorgeous bride on June 20th – it’s been five days – and I don’t know what to say so I haven’t responded. For anyone that knows me, five days is a LONG TIME to not hear from me when you email me, as I’m usually pretty fast with my responses.
It makes me think of when someone gives you a compliment – how do you usually respond? With some self deprecating language, kind of like when someone says that you look nice and your response is, “Oh this old thing?” Some people are VERY good at accepting compliments graciously, and usually when I finally do respond, it sounds okay. But it takes me forever to do so, because I just freeze.
The second he looked at the box I knew I had done good :) He was sooo very pleased with each one, in fact he asked me if he could order more. I couldn’t be more excited and happy about the work you did. Every detail was perfect, I know {he} loves them as well. He is trying to figure out which ones to display.
I’m going to reply to her email right now, as soon as I publish this post. I need to get over this. When someone says something nice to you, you need to say THANK YOU. And when I say you, I’m talking to myself. I realize how silly this is, but it’s one of those things that just causes anxiety. Unnecessarily.
So my question to you today is, how do YOU take a compliment? Do you blow it off and act like it’s not a big deal? Do you thank someone? Do you find something else that is negative to point out about yourself or your actions? Is there someone recently that has said something nice about you, or done something awesome for you? I’m going to reply to this email, right now. I challenge you to say thank you, and to respond with gratitude towards the people who compliment or praise you. RIGHT NOW – don’t put it off. And when you do, leave me a comment and tell me what you did. :)
And because every post is better with a photo, and this beautiful bride released some of her photos to be shared, I wanted to share a sneak peek of one of her bridal photos.
THANK YOU Mrs. M. for your kind words and for being so amazing. I will email you too. :)
