Denver Boudoir Photos – What to Wear For Your Boudoir Session: Amy’s Picks August 12, 2013
Amy is my beautiful assistant and has recently taken on the task of sharing some ideas on the blog as well!
What to Wear for Boudoir: Non Lingerie
Lately, I’ve been thinking about if I were to do a Boudoir session… and what to wear. I think that subject is one of the most stressful – what to wear for your boudoir session. It’s been exciting fantasizing over shoes and accessories and mostly looking smoking hot. Then I started thinking about what to wear, it seems like I am always dressed inappropriately no matter the occasion. I started to complain to my childhood best friend, “But I don’t know what to wear.” I whined. She began to giggle. “Isn’t that kind of the point?” she asked me with a raised eyebrow?
Keep in mind, this best friend has the kind of surfer abs that would make a Victoria Secret model jealous, and size D boobs at the tender and very unfair age of 12. I am not that girl. My stomach is not my best feature and I’m kind of a tomboy. I don’t wear a lot of make up and I would usually pick boots over heels any day. Maybe you’re like me, a little shy, a little self conscious, or maybe lingerie just isn’t your thing.
Lots of women look amazing in Lingerie. I do not feel that I am one of them, and while I can appreciate a great bra and panty set I tend to feel like I would look a little cheesy. Some of the sexiest boudoir shoots are ones that I love are more sorority girl, just lounging around the house in all states of undress, but not necessarily wearing Lingerie.
Here are some of my favorites, but there will be more to come!
Lounge wear: Sweaters are great because while they cover up the midriff particularly if they are button up or off the shoulder, they are playful, flirty and sexy without being too risque. They look like, “Oh, you just happened to catch me in the middle of dressing, this is just how I happen to lounge around the house all the time.”
Sexy doesn’t have to be showing a ton of skin. Click here to tweet!
What do YOU feel sexy in? Do you have a slinky robe that you adore how it feels against your skin? Tank tops, short shorts and even some shirts that you already have can work great. You know that hot blouse that you always have to wear a cami under it because it’s just too sheer? Ditch the cami, and rock that top! Speaking of camisoles, a camisole with a pair of cute panties has a flirty sorority girl feel to it. Just make sure to bring a friend if you feel the urge to engage in a pillow fight.
Sexy Dress: It all depends on your comfort level. How many times in your life are you going to have your hair and make up done and a camera to document it all at the same time? You might as well wait for the planets to align. Take full advantage of the fact that you look like a rock star right now and get some gorgeous and glamorous shots. Want some versatility from your shoot? You might want to do something particularly naughty but also have an outfit that you can share with most of your friends or perhaps on Facebook. Bring along your favorite dress and incorporate that into your session.
Personality:
Is your man in the military? Drive him wild with some sexy shots of you in his Uniform with some dog tags. Are you a city girl married to a country boy? How about a classy cowgirl with boots and a hat? Is there something unique about him or you such as a sport, like playing hockey, boxing or being a firefighter that highlights a passion or a part of his or your identity? Rock what makes you special!Hopefully you are excited and maybe even inspired by all these ideas…Bring lots of choices and Brooke would be happy to lend her expert opinion on what photographs well, and remember the sexiest part about all of this is YOU!
Amy doesn’t know it yet, but she WILL have a boudoir session soon. Don’t tell, k? ;)
