Denver Boudoir Photography – Throwback – The Gorgeous Mrs. M

So many of my clients become friends. Part of my work in Denver boudoir photography means really getting to know my clients, and sometimes working with them through some pretty deep stuff. Someone recently joked with me that I’m a therapist too – and that is so, so true.

Mrs. M wanted to book her Denver boudoir photography session for two primary reasons: she ran a half marathon, and wanted to give her husband an awesome Christmas gift. I have heard of so many reasons to book a boudoir session – but a reward for running a half marathon? Talk about a kickass reason! She made quite a drive into the Denver area for her session, and we talked for quite awhile before her session. Whenever there is a gift in the works, one of the questions I usually ask is whether someone will be able to keep the secret. Finishing the session is usually pretty exciting, and I know that for me personally, I get too excited to really keep the secret! I’m the classic oversharer when it comes to my husband – I tell him way more than he usually wants to know, so when it comes to gifts, forget it. Mrs. M shared that she was going to have a hard time keeping the secret, but she did it!

After her session, she went home and back to everyday life with her family and kiddos. Before her reveal, she found out that she was going to be facing some challenging medical issues, and emailed me with some details. I was stunned. It seems like those challenges hit at the craziest times, and the timing ended up being completely perfect – she completed her half marathon and a boudoir session before her body was going to be forever changed.

After everything was said and done, she sent me a super sweet email!

Thanks so much for everything! As my hair stylist says “you drip talent from your fingertips.”

All of my Denver boudoir photography clients have complete privacy with their photos, unless they choose to share the photos and give permission in writing to do so. Mrs. M opted to keep her photos private, however a few months later, I emailed her asking about one photo in particular. She loves baking and brought some fun props, and there was one photo that I thought would be a great fit for a series I was working on. It didn’t have identifying characteristics, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to ask!

I think about you often and how I need to drop you a line, but that’s about as far as it gets. I LOVED my session and I LOVE the pics and the photo book. You are truly amazing!! I initially did it for myself as a reward for completing the 1/2 marathon and then I had a great Christmas gift for my husband. The girl who completed the 1/2 marathon and said “that was fun but I don’t ever have to do that again” has now registered for not 1, but 2 more 1/2 marathons. I’m not too bright I tell you. I officially started training this week for them (by official I just wrote what I should do on a calendar that keeps me accountable) and I have to tell you that I miss the “ulterior motive.” It was a lot easier to get to the 5am body pump class when I wanted to be toned for pictures. So you made the whole boudoir experience awesome! It was far more “comfortable” than I ever imagined. Anytime I see another boudoir photographer’s work I can’t help but think you are so much better!! It was worth the drive over the mountain (even if I felt very devious going to spend two nights away from my husband and packing lingerie to go with me). Thanks for doing what you do!

While I can’t share a ton of photos from her session, I wanted to share this photo, and her story. Mrs. M is a wife and mother, and decided to shake things up a little bit, and do something that was scary! While I’m not a runner, I admire people that are, and people that take risks. A boudoir session might seem daunting, but it is an experience that you will never forget. An experience that is empowering and fun, and something to remind you that you are powerful and beautiful!

Thank you so much for sharing, Mrs. M, and I can’t wait to work with you again in my new studio!
