Denver Boudoir Photography – Throwback – Featuring: The Gorgeous Mrs. C!

I vividly remember Mrs. C’s first email to me, telling me that she was stepping outside of her comfort zone and wasn’t quite sure about doing a boudoir session. Her session was almost a year and a half ago, but I still remember it so well! When she arrived, I remember trying to calm her because she seemed so nervous as we were going through hair and makeup. But when we started looking at outfits and laughing together, she relaxed, and we got some awesome images!

At her reveal, when I asked if she was comfortable sharing, she thought about it for a second. I could see the wheels turning, and she looked me square in the eye and said: “yes, because I want other African-American women to know what an amazing experience this is.” I had never really thought about it until she said that – I don’t have a lot of African-American clients. Why is that? Ladies let me go a little deeper for a moment into WHY I do what I do: I want all women to embrace their sexy, know their value, and know that despite anything they might perceive as a flaw, they are beautiful. THIS TRANSCENDS RACE, ETHNICITY, AGE, OR ANY OTHER CULTURAL BARRIER that we might want to use to think poorly about ourselves and others. I believe with all my heart that when someone knows they are beautiful that carries through into other aspects of their lives, and I want to see women lifting each other up and encouraging one another, instead of tearing each other down.

I am so fortunate to be able to work with such amazing women, my clients are truly awesome, and Mrs. C inspired me. Thank you so much for your kind words Mrs. C, and for being brave enough to share and encourage other women.

Why did you decide to do a boudoir session?
I decided to do Boudoir because I wanted to have awesome, professional pictures of my sexiness. I had recently stepped out of my comfort zone and wanted to do it while I was still feeling brave. I really didn’t want to keep thinking “I wish I could.”

What do you wear when you want to feel amazingly gorgeous?
I wear nothing. I’m most comfortable naked in my home. I just sit and write creatively or read and I feel fabulous.

How do you feel about your age?
I feel sexier now than ever before because I’m more mature and wiser. I use my life experiences to strengthen and empower me. I’m more confident to say “yes I’m getting older but I’m sexier too!”

How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?
I felt vibrant and proud. I was so proud of myself and I was just glowing with confidence for hours afterwards.

Are there any memories that stick out to you that trigger certain feelings about how you feel about your body – negative or positive?
I think both of my children’s labors stick out as positives for me. I feel confident in my body because I think that if I could do that, twice, I can do anything! Bringing life into the world, no matter the pain, is an awesome, invigorating experience and although I was exhausted, I still felt strong and pretty.

Is there anything else that you would like to share about your story, why you did your session, or your overall experience?
I think that if someone is going to do Boudoir pictures, hopefully they’re feeling sexy and doing it for themselves, first. I think that’s what gave me the most confidence. At the end of the day, no matter who may come and go in my life, or appreciate the pictures as much as I do; I wanted to be proud of myself and my pictures-for myself. It was an amazing experience that came at just the right time in my life. I had a wonderful experience because I had an amazing photographer. I couldn’t have done it without Brooke!! She welcomed and calmed me enough so that I could relax, have fun, and be sexy.

I absolutely love that! Most of my clients don’t believe me until they’re here with me… this might start as a gift for him, but it is truly a gift for YOURSELF!
