Denver Boudoir Photography – Featuring Mr. & Mrs. M – Couples Boudoir

I have waited entirely too long to share these photos. Sometimes I get overwhelmed with blogging and when I get overwhelmed, I just don’t do it. I have so many amazing clients that love their Denver boudoir photography and are willing to share, and I am so grateful that they are willing to share such intimate photos!

If you haven’t read Part 1 of this post, the beautiful Mrs. J by herself, you can read it by clicking here. These images are a bit of a throwback post, from WPPI 2013, when I had the opportunity to work with two amazing photographers.

Couples boudoir sessions are some of my favorite to do! It seems a little surprising, you might think it would be the other way around, but the couples sessions are usually very laid back and my couples aren’t crazy nervous. We laugh a lot and play, and one day I will have to share some outtakes from couples sessions, they are pretty funny. Everything from him adjusting her garters – and not in that super sexy way but in a face in butt kind of way – to someone accidentally knocking someone in the nose. Couples boudoir is intimate and beautiful, and I am happy to be one of the few in Colorado that works with couples to capture such intimate portraits.

Mrs. J was wonderful to answer so many of my questions, so I will share the second part of her answers here! Warning before scrolling down, there is some nudity, these images might not be safe for work.

What do you wear when you want to feel amazingly gorgeous?

Red lips. I call them my power lips. If I’m having a day where I’m feeling particularly hard on myself and need a pick me up I’ll put on red lips. Works like a charm.

How do you feel about your age?

I feel AWESOME about my age! I’m turning 30 on March 24 and I’ve never been so excited about a birthday before! I’m not one bit scared of aging.

Do you feel like your age affects how sexy you really are?

Not at all. I feel like I get more and more sex appeal the older I am. I don’t think “sexy” necessarily has to do with my looks, but more so how I express myself. The older I get the more I learn about my own body and emotions, the more I can portray sexy.

What gets better with age?

SEX!

Are there any memories that stick out to you that trigger certain feelings about how you feel about your body – negative or positive?

Growing up my mom always said negative things about my appearance. It was unintentional and I don’t think she meant it to hurt me, or even knew how badly it was affecting me. She would say things like, “Oh you poor thing, don’t worry, when you turn 18 we’ll get you a nose job”. At that time I didn’t even realize there was anything wrong with my nose. She would also say I was cursed with her hair; thick and curly. I’ve fought my hair my whole life, trying to make it something it’s not. I’m finally just now to the point where I can let it go and accept it for what it is, and love it. That self destructive talk from my mom was hereditary, her mom passed it down to her, then my mom’s mom before her and so on. I want to break that chain when I have kids.

What is the thing you would want to share most with other women when it comes to getting half naked in front of a camera?

I think getting half naked (or naked) in front of the camera is one of the most liberating things a woman can do. It’s liberating in a way that makes you feel sexy, and that’s a feeling that sticks with you long after the shoot is over. When we look at ourselves in the mirror we tend to see all of our imperfections first. We can’t see past our wrinkles and cellulite. We can’t see ourselves as others see us. Doing a boudoir sessions allowed me to see myself as Brooke saw me. She showed me all of my most flattering aspects without all the flaws. That image is forever engrained in my head now.

Mrs. J is strong, sexy and confident, and one of the things I love the most about ANY couples session – especially couples boudoir – is the look of adoration from a husband at his wife. He knows her so well, and still loves her for the person she is. Those are some of my favorite images from any couples session, especially when we are working with the intimacy of couples boudoir.
