Colorado Boudoir – FEATURED – The Gorgeous Mrs. D

Well hello there, awesome people, how you doin? Every time I say that I think of Joey, I taught my son to say that when he was about 2 and it was hilarious!

I asked in my Colorado boudoir Facebook group awhile back if you really CARED about publications – because it’s something that just isn’t super important to me. But I got a lot of feedback that my clients DO care, and so I will keep sharing the publications! It is always a little surreal to see my work published.

I am SO focused on my Colorado boudoir clients that looking at external validation isn’t something that I do very often, and I should probably be a little better about that. I think part of that also comes from working in a genre that is often the dark corners of the photography industry. I’m not sure why, but for some reason, boudoir photography isn’t super prevalent when it comes to the larger photography industry. It is slowly changing, but because of that past, I haven’t really wanted to look for those accolades for my work. Because why try when someone will just shoot you down, know what I mean?

So onward and upward, here’s to changing the status quo as a Colorado boudoir photographer!

BUT – as I shared in an article a few months ago, I’m committed to starting to share these stories. These photos. To show the WORLD that women’s bodies are their own and that no one else gets to decide what they wear, do, or want for themselves!

This gorgeous client came to me specifically for a piece of Colorado boudoir art for her wall. And WHO DOESN’T LOVE THAT because seriously, having a photo on the wall as a reminder that you are freakin’ amazing is something that EVERY woman needs! Mrs. D wanted a beautiful piece of art for her wall. And my response was HELL YES. Even better – she wanted to do a completely nude shot. Nude photos are often TERRIFYING for women, but they are some of my most favorite images to create. There is something so natural about nudity, and being nude doesn’t necessarily mean showing everything. It doesn’t mean the shots that so often come to mind, but instead reminds me of art. Italy is one of my most favorite places in the world, and the art that is prevalent in that culture is something that I’m fascinated with. Nude images remind me of that art – pieces that are beautiful and natural!

Gothesque magazine chose to publish this session, along with another that we will share soon, and I’m thrilled to share it with you!
