Featuring The Gorgeous Mrs. K | Denver’s Best Boudoir Photographers
Well hello there, awesome people! Prepare yourself for several features and publications from Denver’s best boudoir photographers, because I’m going to start publishing them, and today’s feature is an amazing woman that drove in to the studio all the way from deep in the Colorado mountains!
Sometimes I think that my personality is a little TOO over the top – I’m a little excitable. When I have a client who comes into the studio that is a little more shy, I try so hard to dial it back and just chat with them. But really, when someone books a session JUST FOR HER because she wants to embrace her body and her sensuality, it is just so freakin’ exciting for me.
Mrs. K wanted to remind herself that adding year to the calendar doesn’t mean that a different label necessarily applies. Just because we reach a certain age doesn’t mean that we are old – it means that we are even more fabulous. That last sentence was mine, but totally appropriate. ;)
She shared after her session that her session “Made me see myself through my husband’s eyes and understand better why he is so attracted to me and my body.” And how freakin’ true is that? We are our own worst critics, and we will tear ourselves apart while others don’t even SEE what we are talking about!
Being one of Denver’s best boudoir photographers means that I have the PRIVILEGE of learning more about my clients’ stories.
When my clients opt for hair and makeup, it gives me the chance to sit down and chat with them for awhile. About anything – life, kids, marriage, business – and this amazing woman is a business owner and world changer. She creates spirits in a male dominated industry – and we all know how much I love a great cocktail. She knows her body, is aware of how things affect her, and when she didn’t see what she needed in the marketplace – she made it HAPPEN and now offers what she has learned to others. She is an advocate for zero waste, which is also a cause near and dear to my own heart. She has faced health challenges and beaten them, and came back even stronger than before. She even got me hooked on really wanting a camper. Which my husband isn’t too thrilled about but he’ll come around. ;)
Seriously – is there anything this woman CAN’T DO? She’s a rockstar, and just gorgeous at the same time.
And really – that is the awesomeness of women. We are strong, we are firecrackers, we change the world every day – and we do so while looking DAMN GOOD. Right ladies?
We asked Mrs. K some questions, and I absolutely love her answers:
What do you love about your body?
I have always had a complicated relationship with my body. Until I was almost 50, I always felt like the “chubby girl”. But something shifted recently. I began to really embrace my physique and understand that curves are gorgeous.
How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?
I felt so validated and victorious. I was doing this photo shoot mainly for my own 50th birthday celebration, but I encountered some serious health challenges that caused me to cancel two appointments. It became such a mission for me to get well, triumph and take these photos. So they came to represent a lot of pride too. Wanting them motivated me through some tough days on the path to getting well.
What gets better with age?
I never would have thought I could feel better about myself and sexier at 50 than I did at 25. But I do! I have so much more affection for myself on every level now. It has made getting older so much easier.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your younger self?
Wear tighter clothes. I spent 20 years draping my figure with big loose clothing. I wish I had worn all along what I wear now, that better flatters my curves.
What’s the best compliment you ever received?
When my husband saw my boudoir photos, he said, “You know, this is the incredibly sexy woman I see every day.”
Why did you decide to do a boudoir session?
To capture a moment in time. I knew time was not likely going to be kind from here forward, so I wanted to remember this woman when I am 80, and not just in my mind’s eye. Now I have a goal of doing it again for my 60th birthday.
What is the thing you would want to share most with other women when it comes to getting half naked in front of a camera?
It was one of the most fun things I have done in a long time. Yes, it took some planning and organizing, but really those tasks were all about self care. I couldn’t believe how at ease I felt. Ever since the photo shoot, I have wanted to come back again and again, not for the photos afterward, but just to see myself from a distance again. We can be so harsh on ourselves, and Brooke’s camera reminds us of how gorgeous we are.
