Denver Photographer – WPPI and Glamour

Well, here we are again – the end of February, looking at the time of year where HUGE amounts (about 16,000!) of photographers converge on Las Vegas to take the city by storm. Are we the craziest group that Las Vegas has ever seen? Definitely not. Are we the tamest? Oh hell no.

WPPI is Wedding and Portrait Photographers International – the long way to say an organization of awesome photographers. I enjoy this event every year, although truth be told, it is more for the social aspect than some of the other things that are available from the conference.

So what the heck do thousands of photographers do for a week in Vegas?

We are geeky – we will be looking at new gear – new lenses, new camera bodies, new software, new ways to serve our clients. We are partiers – well, there are a lot of partiers, I don’t know if I count myself in that category. I prefer an evening where I can have some cocktails and actually TALK to people, instead of having to yell over the latest rap song and wondering whether the rapper just said ass or sass. We are definitely sassy – I will be photographing some gorgeous women while I’m there, can I get a hell yeah?

Several of my tips have been featured previously on other photographers’ blogs, I have been to WPPI a few times. That’s what I say when I don’t want to feel old. How many birthdays have you had, Brooke? Oh, a few birthdays. ;)

So WHY do you all care about this? You probably don’t, but I bring up this information because with WPPI quickly approaching, I wanted to share some images that we shot in an informal class last year with the amazing Chuckie Arlund.

It’s kind of funny to me when people don’t realize that I actually photograph women with their clothes ON too. Ladies – you don’t HAVE to take your clothes off, I swear! It might be fun, but it’s not required. As a Denver photographer, I work with women and couples from all walks of life, and in Las Vegas last year I had the opportunity to shoot with this beautiful woman in Chuckie’s class. Admittedly, I didn’t take a ton of images – I was far too interested in learning more about these amazing triggers that I have since fallen in love with and use on almost every session. But hey, such is life when you’re learning.
