Published! – Ms. L in Pump Magazine | Castle Rock Boudoir

Publication has never been something that I really, really pushed for. I work with women from so many different parts of the state – and even the world. Part of the reason that I went into Castle Rock & worldwide boudoir photography is because I wanted everyday women to feel amazing, and for a long time I felt like attempting to have my work published was contrary to that reason, like I was looking for someone else’s approval. Which was definitely not the case!

Recently I was talking with another photographer at a conference and they said “maybe your clients would like to be published.” Hmmm… good point. He was right – although that introduces a whole different set of eyeballs into the mix, and I have zero control over what the editors choose.

SO, we have had 16 publications this year – meaning that my work has been in 16 magazines this year. YAY, right?

And then with that came a whole different set of things to think about: how do we share this information, how do we let our clients know, what is the best way to go about this?

I’m sharing all of this to let you know that you will start seeing published blog posts and social media links when it comes to worldwide & Castle Rock boudoir. Because when my clients opt to share their photos, they do so because they are PROUD of their photos. Because they look amazing, and want to share that with the world. And I am SO honored that they want to share!

For a woman to opt to TAKE the photos is way outside of most comfort zones to begin with, but then to share them? Not everyone can – and I understand that. All of my clients have the opportunity to share, or to keep everything private. But when they share, I usually feel a huge HELL YES for them! And then when they’re published? Even more HELL YES!

Ms. L came in for a session awhile back, and we had a ton of fun. She has been through a LOT since her session, life happens, and things change, and I’m so, so thrilled that she was chosen to be in this issue of Pump Magazine! It is SO frustrating to me when someone tells me that they can’t do a boudoir session because they don’t look like a model. Guess what – the vast majority of women in this world don’t look like models either. Boudoir is for EVERY woman, and I am honored to have captured these intimate photos for women of all backgrounds, ages, shapes and sizes!
