Top Denver Boudoir Photographers: A Rant on Self Love
Well, it’s been a month. Exactly one month ago, I went out on a limb as one of the Top Denver boudoir photographers and ranted on Facebook.
They say you’re not supposed to do that, right? That’s bad. You should never just go OFF about something on social media when you own a business. After all, it’s irresponsible!
But quite frankly, my heart has been rather upset lately.
My clients have told me for years that they don’t feel beautiful, and every time I hear that, it breaks my heart. But lately, more and more, it is making me ANGRY instead of just sad.
No, I’m not angry with my clients. I’m angry with a world that teaches us that we aren’t enough. A culture that tells us that to be pretty, we must be this. Or that. Or any number of things.
And in this rant, I called bullshit.
I spent 8 minutes in my car, driving home from a session (don’t worry I was looking at the road), talking about why this is such a problem, and what it is doing to us. I shared my heart, and yes, a few tears. What can I say, I’m a crier.
Someone mentioned to me recently that the video needed to go on the blog, for a permanent home, because things on Facebook get lost so easily. And this person was 100% correct.
So today I present to you my Facebook live rant, some words on self love, and what I think about all of this. The Facebook comments were so supportive, and I appreciated every single one, if you’d like to comment, click here or leave a comment below.

That was so beautiful and raw and strong. Thank you for sharing your heart with tears and laughter. Body image affects everyone and our inner voice spews out the worst criticisms, ignoring our best features and zeroing in on our perceived flaws. Once we love and empower ourselves, we’ll see beauty and love everywhere. <3
