Denver Boudoir Studio – The End of an Era

I have hesitated writing this post for a few days now. Like if I write it, if I make this announcement, something will happen to jinx it. Weird, right? What a dork.

In October, we began a search. I had no idea that this search for a new Denver boudoir studio would be such a PAIN IN THE BUTT. Okay, I was censoring myself there for my mother, but really? It was a pain in the ass. Find a place, sweet! Talk with someone, cool! JUST KIDDING Brooke, you can’t really have it.

Next week: Look at 12 places, ready to pass out. Talk with more people, fantastic! Will it work out? Nope – too bad.

The silver lining to this entirely painful process was spending more time with an amazing woman that I will be spending a lot more time with in the future: the awesome TC Decker, from Muse Events. We ate fig and goat cheese PB&J’s together from a food truck – if that’s not love, I don’t know what is. We walked up and down various buildings in Denver. We looked at gimp closets and TEENY tiny places. We froze our butts off as we walked in the SNOW to the next space.

And in December, we found it! Then, it didn’t work out. Cue Brooke’s crazy tears. Think 13-year-old that is in love with a classmate drama. I WILL NEVER FIND A STUDIO SPACE TOM, I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOREVER! Yep, I was that girl. Sorry, Tom, I love you honey.

He talked me down from the studio space sadness ledge and we kept looking. And looking. And the holidays kicked my butt because hey, as a Denver boudoir photographer, women like Valentine’s Day and therefore we must shoot with gorgeous women.

I hired brokers! Because they know what’s up, right? They have been absolutely wonderful to work with, and when they started searching, they found more spaces. We were all looking and then all of the sudden, BAM, there it was on Craigslist.

That is a really long story to tell you that yes, this is the end of an era for Brooke Summer Photography, and an entirely new beginning. I am terrified, thrilled, excited, happy, exuberant, and everything in between. TC knew how I was feeling and sent me this beautiful E-Card – because she is that freakin’ cool.

We are moving out of our current studio and into a brand spankin’ new studio in downtown Denver. Okay, it’s not brand spankin’ new because it’s a historical building – but it’s NEW TO US so that’s cool, right? We have a new home! New places to shooting! New awesome parties! New amazing images!

Thank you to EVERYONE for all of your support, emails, messages, texts and listening to me bitch about not finding a studio. I’ve been like the bride that can’t talk about anything else except her wedding. And it’s not over yet – so thank you for your past listening, and the future. I really do appreciate all of you, and we can’t wait to announce the grand opening party and post photos!

In honor of this huge, huge move, I wanted to post a photo from my FIRST boudoir session at our current studio, three years ago!
