Happy Friday, internet!! I was going to post a fun things Friday kind of post, but I have something SO much more special to share with you today.
Do any of you have “work” spouses? The one person that you work with that you’re closer to, of the opposite sex. And there’s nothing inappropriate between you, nothing romantic whatsoever, but you argue and talk in a way that isn’t quite like your other co-workers, right? I had one when I worked in the office, we went BACK and forth all day. We are both happily married, but while at the office, we talked and argued and laughed together. The work-husband, and work-wife – who’s with me, do you know what I’m talking about?
Leah, is my husband’s work-wife. Well, that’s what I tell him, and tease him about. He disagrees. But she is the person that talks to him at work and gives him hell when I’m not around to do so. When Tom and I had our first date, Leah helped him decide on where to go. When Tom was going to propose to me, Leah approved of the ring, and told him to ask my dad, and make sure to get down on one knee. She gives him pointers on how to deal with women – because let’s face it, sometimes men just don’t get it. She is his dealing-with-the-opposite-sex cheerleader, and that is how I met her.
Leah is so kind and down to earth, and when I met Gregg, he was the same way. They’re both super laid back, and just like to relax and have fun. They’ve been together for a few years, but marriage was off the table, and they were happy together. We’ve been to their parties, gone out, and just had fun with them!
So fast forward to Monday night. I was driving home from an event, and talking with Tom while driving. I had him on speakerphone, with the phone sitting on my shoulder, because E-470 isn’t exactly exciting. He casually, out of the blue, mentioned that Gregg was going to propose to Leah but that I couldn’t tell his mother. Ummmmm wh-wh-what!? I immediately took him off of speakerphone and started firing the questions. See guys can just tell each other something like that and they’re like “oh that’s cool.” Girls aren’t like that, I wanted DETAILS. Where is he going to propose? Did he pick out the ring? What is the plan? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD TOM, TELL ME DETAILS!!! I knew that this moment would be super important to Leah, and I immediately told Tom, “I want to take pictures!!!” He said it probably wasn’t a good idea, and because I KNOW girls, I said oh yes, she will want them.
The next morning, Leah called me and was totally on board – was I right or was I right? Ladies, this is an important moment, and having photos of this moment melts your heart. The happiness and tears, the moment when he tells you that he wants to spend his life with you and makes it OFFICIAL – it’s an exciting moment! Leah and Gregg had already decided on everything, but wanted to surprise someone very special to them, and wanted this moment to happen while they were at dinner with her – and she just happens to be my mother in law! Whew, are you all with me in this confusing cobweb of awesomeness?
The details were all set, and I was SO excited. I’m pretty proud that I held myself together and didn’t cry!
WOW she is stunning. I can’t wait for the wedding! Congratulations both of you, I’m SO happy and excited for you!
