Featuring: The Gorgeous Mrs. M – Best Grooms Gift Denver

Well hello there, awesome people! Today’s feature is a gorgeous bride that did an AMAZING job in her photos, because let’s be real – the best grooms gift Denver is a reminder of the hot woman he’s marrying, right?

But first, I want to share a little more about this session.

I have been working on an article about the most difficult things about my job, because even though I truly have the best freakin’ job in the world, there are some difficult pieces to it, and this gorgeous woman faced one of the things that bothers me the most – someone used photos of her to try to shame her.

I feel like I spend so much of my time fighting this idea that because a woman has photos with few clothes on, that she’s a terrible person – and yet we still have assholes who perpetuate this by trying to use photos against women. This is 2019 guys – can we just let it rest? Seriously.

Mrs. M wanted a best grooms gift Denver for her upcoming wedding – sounds pretty straightforward, right? I have worked with LOTS of brides, and boudoir makes an amazing gift. And then as we started talking, she told me the story of her ex and what he had done to her, and it broke my heart. I have had SO many clients that have been subject to this kind of abuse. The kind that doesn’t necessarily leave bruises on your skin, but leaves marks that can’t be seen. Make no mistake, just because the hurt isn’t visible doesn’t make it less damaging. In fact, I would even go as far as to say that it is probably MORE damaging, and requires more time and tenacity to get past than the physical damage does.

But we are STRONG.

And Mrs. M is strong. And most of all… happy. The sadness I saw when she shared her story melted away when she talked about her fiance and their upcoming wedding. She is resilient and strong, and her face lit up with excitement when we talked about her wedding.

I really, really, REALLY love what she had to say below, and I know it’s coming and you’ll read it but I’m going to quote it here too because it’s worth saying TWICE and I want everyone to have it repeated in your brain.

“Your life is going to be better than you’ll ever imagine, and harder than you know. All of it is temporary. All of it is worth it. Keep moving forward. Stand up for yourself, and speak up!”

Just reading that brings tears to my own eyes.

Thank you so much, Mrs. M. For trusting me with these photos, after photos had been used to hurt you. For sharing your story, with me, and now with the world. It makes me so proud to watch women that have gone through terrible things re-open their hearts and their lives to love and other humans again, because I know how vulnerable that feeling is.

How do you feel about your body?

It changes every day. I have stretch marks, that are everywhere. I have terrible skin, that changes every day, and most days a struggle to work with. But at the same time, I am proud of it. It gets me around every day, I am able to hug my kids, run and play with them.

What do you love about your body?

I love my curves and my booty!!! I love the way my eyes look and how they change when I am really happy! How my irises look like sunflowers. I love my hair and how long I have let it get. I love my tattoos so much. They show where I have been, what I have been through and all of them have a story.

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your younger self?

You are fine on your own, and when you stop begging the wrong people for love, the right person will love you so much you’ll know what all those songs you love were written about. Your life is going to be better than you’ll ever imagine, and harder than you know. All of it is temporary. All of it is worth it. Keep moving forward. Stand up for yourself, and speak up!

What do you feel when you look at the images now, well after your session?

I feel so beautiful! And so empowering. That the way I see my body and how others see it, are totally different and I shouldn’t be so critical all the time.

Is there anything else that you would like to share about your story, why you did your session, or your overall experience?

I had to regain my confidence again, and what better way than before my wedding. Over 4 years ago, I had a terrible abusive boyfriend who decided to post all my nude photography on the internet for the world to see. Made sure to poke fun at my insecurities and edit the photos to clearly make me feel bad about myself. Since, I have been so ashamed and felt so ugly. I needed to regain that confidence to break down the wall that was effecting my relationship with my fiance! And I couldn’t be more happy!!! I never felt sexier and happier in my own skin.
