International Boudoir Photographer – Looks I Love – Curvy and Plus Size Lingerie!
Well hello there, party people. Today’s post is for my curvies. I hate the words PLUS SIZE but hey, since that’s what people use to search, we’re going to embrace them and know that we are PLUS because we have more to love, right ladies? We have some SERIOUS issues with body shaming here in the US, one thing I have learned as an International boudoir photographer is that other cultures around the world have completely different views!
Hello my name is Brooke and as an international boudoir photographer that has worked with thousands of women – I approve this message.
I have been doing some research lately for some clients that have asked about plus size lingerie for their boudoir sessions. I work with women of ALL shapes and sizes and backgrounds, because boudoir is for EVERY woman!
Make no mistake my curvies – boudoir is for you too! Big belly – still for you. Wings on your upper arms – still for you. Stretch marks – still for you.
I used to think, as a larger woman, that the skinny chicks had it all together. They can’t possibly feel insecure, because they’re thin. They’re what our world calls beautiful, right? But the reality is that we ALL have insecurities, regardless of size! I have had clients come in that are very thin that feel insecure that they’re TOO thin, even after they have tried desperately to gain weight! Please know this, for all of my beautiful ladies – your size is not who you are. It does NOT define you!
Lately I have had some curvy clients come in and the session STARTS as a gift for someone else – which is common, definitely understandable. And they leave with a renewed sense of confidence. Value. Beauty. Because despite what our culture would have us believe, we are NOT less of a person because of our size!
You are beautiful. Just as you are. And today I want to share a few looks that I love that are plus size pieces, that I have found in my recent internet travels as an international boudoir photographer!
Before we go into details, the obligatory link must be shared, because I have curated years and years of articles on what to wear, and so many people ask me, so here you go.
I know that the temptation is to cover your body up. To hide behind some sort of weird contraption or lingerie piece. But that does NOT have to be the case! Yes, we can cover problem areas, but I really want to encourage you to NOT hide, and not cover everything! Pieces that FIT well will be the most flattering by far!
So let’s take a look at some fun pieces, shall we? YES I am linking to these pieces, but there is no affiliate pay or kickback, I just wanted to share because they are examples of what YOU can bring to your boudoir session!
This piece has a fun collar, but I love that it’s detachable too, because hey, if you have boobs, let’s show them off, am I right? I love the peek of the butt in the back, and it would cover the belly well too!
The next piece and image is from Torrid, click here for more information.
I love that this is a little see through, but still has the support at the top. So many curvy ladies have lovely boobs, but some of the lacy lingerie doesn’t offer a lot of support, which means the boobs will move wherever they want. They have a mind of their own!
This *might* be my favorite out of this whole list. First, the color. I feel like when lingerie designers are looking at larger sizes, they go immediately to black. Yes, black is slimming and flattering, but can’t a curvy girl get some color too? It’s not an obnoxious pink, but a more subtle rose color, which I love. I can’t tell from the description, but it appears to have a bra back, which means a little more support for the girls as well. Plus, it has the V shaped lace detail in the middle, which would be flattering for the waist and points to other body parts… hint hint. The lace on the bottom is just beautiful. I may need to order one for myself!
Next up is a navy or black number and image from Hips and Curves, click here for more information.
Usually blue isn’t my go to color for lingerie, but I really like the combination of the navy with the nude stockings – those would make for some great photos! I love the shape of this, and the support up top. One thing I do NOT love is the panties that come with it – and this is pretty much standard for most lingerie. The panties that have the strings with a triangle of fabric? No thanks. It chops her body in half in the photo from behind. A nice cheeky pantie, or nothing at all would be my preference!
Up until this point I have shared the lingerie pieces that offer more coverage, because that tends to be what so many of my curvy clients want. But again ladies – SHOW OFF your figure! You do not HAVE to wear something that covers everything! If that is what you’re comfortable in, rock it. But if you want to show a little more, here are a couple options that I love too!
First up, this killer blue set and image from Torrid. Click here for more information.
I love the detail on the bra in the front, and the neckline that shows off the girls. So many necklines recently are higher, which doesn’t work as well for a boudoir session. The clips in the front are fun, I can’t tell if they actually unclip but if they do that would be awesome for a few shots as well. The panties are higher in front, which can be very flattering, and the lace detail gives a soft touch!
It’s no secret that I LOVE long line bras. They’re just so damn flattering on every body type, and give that longer body line instead of chopping a body in half! These colors are beautiful as well, and I love the lighter color with the green lace!
Finally we have this retro/vintage set and image from Yandy, click here for more information.
This set kind of surprised me, because I do NOT love the panties. But I love the waist piece because it’s not as full coverage as the other pieces, it shows a little more skin, but still gives that beautiful line of her body. The bra is kickass too, I like the lines on the front, and the gap between the cups!
Convinced yet? There are a ton of options when it comes to plus size lingerie and plus size boudoir – and if you prefer the word curvy, we can do that too. The point is, embrace YOU. Your body, right now, exactly as it is. I promise I will pose you and light you appropriately to show off the best assets and not highlight any areas you’re uncomfortable with. You will look and feel amazing!
