I am so excited to share this feature and Denver boudoir photos with you! Okay, okay, I’m excited to share them all. I connect with my clients, and we have so much fun, it is so exciting when they love their photos enough to share!
This beautiful woman wanted to do a session for the holidays, as a gift for a loved one. She quickly discovered it was a gift for HER!
When she arrived at the studio, she told me that she wanted to cancel the night before. Wh-wh-what!? I’m so glad that she didn’t. I know that it’s scary, I totally get it, I really, really do – but man, sometimes the things that scare us are the things that make for the best memories!
Ms. L didn’t include this in her feature but she emailed it to me after her session I wanted to share it. Because DAMN we all need that message every once in awhile, right?
THANK YOU SO MUCH for helping me feel so much more sexy and for enforcing a positive message for me as a woman. If you ever need a model, please think of me!!!! I’d take my clothes off for you anytime!
The last sentence made me laugh – but really, how many negative messages do we have in our brains, almost every minute of the day? Ms. L is beautiful, smart, and hilarious, and ALMOST CANCELLED!
She had some amazing ideas about what she wanted, and I loved collaborating to figure out exactly what would be a great fit for her. Every woman has a different idea of what they think is sexy and what they want in their Denver boudoir photos, and I love the ideas!
I feel like I’m rambling here, so let’s get to some awesomeness, straight from Ms. L, and her amazing photos, shall we?
How did you feel about being half naked in front of the camera?
At first, it was a little unnerving. I had considered cancelling my session earlier and wasn’t too sure about following through, but after spending time with both the make up artist and Brooke talking, I got to be more at ease. When I started laying out my outfits for the session and talking with Brooke, it turned into a lot of fun from that point on…it was like playing “un-dress up”.
How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?
I was amazed at what the pictures looked like when I had my reveal. It literally took my breath away and it was fun to sit with Brooke and go through all of the poses and have fun picking out my final album.
How do you feel about your age?
I am older and feel that doing a session like this just justifies how I got here. I am proud of my age and my accomplishments. Being able to do this in front of a camera makes me realize that, while I have traveled a longer road than some of the subjects, I am still able to be sexy and beautiful and feel alive.
Do you feel like your age affects how sexy you really are?
Yes…I feel that I am sexier because of my age and experience.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your younger self?
Don’t be so hard on yourself. All of your experiences and knowledge and failures and successes just make you stronger and wiser.
Describe yourself in 5 words – what do you do, who are you, a mother, shy, outgoing, adventurous, reserved… tell me about you in 5 words.
Mother, wife, outgoing, courageous, strong and adventurous. (six)…
When you are facing a day feeling kind of blah, what do you do to turn it around and help yourself feel beautiful and confident again?
I do my hair up high, put on make up and wear something pretty for work even working from home. :)
What is the thing you would want to share most with other women when it comes to getting half naked in front of a camera?
When you are in front of that camera and doing your poses, think how awesome you are and how sexy this will turn out. Think beautiful and smile big….! It will definitely show!
Are there any memories that stick out to you that trigger certain feelings about how you feel about your body – negative or positive?
I had been told in the past that my “mommy tummy” was ugly and marked up with stretch marks…but you know what? I learned that every mark was worth it and its a part of me and my story. When I looked at my finished product – my photos that I had been wondering about my stomach in…. my mommy tummy isn’t bad!!! ….and if HE could see me now! :)
If you wanted to tell your daughter, niece, or a young girl anything about how she feels about herself or being a woman, what would you want to share?
Being a woman can mean so many things to so many different people. Enjoy every experience you have in your life and every role you take on. Realize your own strength and beauty. Accomplish what you want to accomplish and do what you need to do for YOU.
What do you feel when you look at the images now, well after your session?
I love to look at my photos that I have. It takes me back to that day and how special I felt during the shoot and even afterwards. I felt like I had accomplished something I had always thought about doing and finally did. I am glad that I had this experience because it was a fantastic moment in time that I can always go back to.
