Denver Boudoir Photography – The Beautiful Mrs. N!
This gorgeous woman came in for her Denver boudoir photography session years ago, and her positive energy is contagious! She is a mom of a little girl, and I remember our conversation about parenting a little girl because it struck me. At the time, I hadn’t had my daughter yet, and the thought of raising a little girl seemed so daunting, with all of the things that we face as women. Mrs. N’s strength and perseverance struck me, and it was amazing to meet her husband at the reveal as well!
Plus – she’s a belly dancer, and that’s really freakin’ cool, I was crazy impressed when she told me!

Describe your body in 5 words.
Curvy, flexible, tough, scars, modified
How do you feel about your body?
I used to hate it due to societal notions of what I thought that I should look like, but I’ve come to love and accept it!
What do you love about your body?
Other than the fact that it helped generate a new life, I love the fact that I’ve got amazing curves and that it’s allowed me to do things I’ve never thought I could. Plus, I’ve got several scars from having open heart surgery at age two (I was a preemie), so my body shows I’m a fighter.
How did you feel about being half naked in front of the camera?
It was nerve-wracking at first, but as I got comfortable, I didn’t realize I was half-naked!
How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?
Amazingly beautiful! I hear my husband say, “you’re beautiful” all the time, but never realized it until viewing the photos. I still look at my photo book at least once a week!
What do you wear when you want to feel amazingly gorgeous?
My kick-butt boots with a fun outfit, and makeup (I rarely wear makeup, so it makes me feel great!).
What’s your best tip for feeling sexy?
Wear great underwear and a fun pair of shoes (sometimes you only need that J), but seriously, if you have on nice underwear, you’ll instantly feel more sexy!
How do you feel about your age?
I don’t feel 36, I feel younger. I look in the mirror and think “I should be in my mid 20s,” not closing in on 40!
Do you feel like your age affects how sexy you really are?
No, I feel you can be sexy at any age!
What gets better with age?
Other than wine? I think women!
What’s the best compliment you ever received?
That there are two facets of who I am and both are just as unique: the fun, natural, mom part of me and my stage presence, sophisticated, make up and costumed for belly dance.
Why did you decide to do a Denver boudoir photography session?
I had just started belly dancing, and wanted to keep feeling more confident in my own skin, which it did.
What is the thing you would want to share most with other women when it comes to getting half naked in front of a camera?
Don’t be too nervous and don’t focus on your flaws while you’re half-naked. The photographer will showcase what’s amazing and beautiful on you. Plus, great music helps!
Are there any memories that stick out to you that trigger certain feelings about how you feel about your body – negative or positive?
I’d had negative body image for so long due to being told, you don’t have the body for a two-piece when I was in high school, so I’d never felt 100% comfortable about my body. Most recently I was told by an aunt, “Wow, you look so much like mom (my paternal grandmother) when she was your age.” My Grammie was a dish, so that made me feel great!
If you wanted to tell your daughter, niece, or a young girl anything about how she feels about herself, what would you want to share?
Be who you are and be confident in yourself; you don’t have to conform to what your friends, magazines, or movies think you should be. If you are comfortable with the girl/woman you are becoming, that’s all that matters.
Is there anything else that you would like to share about your story, why you did your session, or your overall experience?
Like I said in the why question, before my boudoir session with Brooke, I’d been belly dancing for almost 8 months and just finished the first show with my group. Since I started dancing, I was finally coming to terms with my body, it’s shape and what it was able to do- including gaining more flexibility, and moving in ways I never thought. Also, I am part of an amazing group of dance sisters who’ve helped boost my confidence.
I’d met Brooke through a networking group and saw she had a “White Sheets” session special going on, so I signed up! I never thought I’d be so comfortable being half-naked in front of the camera. Brooke is such a genuinely sweet woman who makes you feel instantly at home, and she made me laugh throughout the entire session. I originally wanted this session to be a surprise for my husband which ended up not being a surprise because a) I had to tell him why he had to pick up the kid from school and b) why I came home with full makeup and hair!
Two weeks later, enter the unveiling – I think I was more nervous about that than the shoot itself! Between Brooke’s camera, the makeup and hair, and my own comfort, seeing the finished product, I never realized how truly beautiful I am. I think we’re all that way, we hear it, but don’t actually see it. Brooke helps you SEE yourself as everyone else sees us. I can’t wait to book another session with her!
It is always my goal with my Denver boudoir photography to help someone SEE themselves as others see them – which can be so hard to do! We see our flaws, the things that we perceive as issues, but the reality is that others see us very differently, in a much kinder light! Ladies, treat yourselves like you would treat your best friend!
