Welcome to Wedding Wednesday!!

Did you like my alliteration there? Spiffy, right?

Today I wanted to share some ideas for unique guest books. WHY, you ask? Because I’m waiting for mine to arrive, and have been VERY impatient in doing so! I keep counting the days and checking my mail and doorstep, hoping! I’m pretty proud to announce that I have NOT contacted the company yet though, so I think I’m doing pretty darn well. That’s patience right there! ;)

We opted to go with a more traditional route for our guest book, although a little different from the actual book that everyone writes their name in. It’s a photo guest book that I designed myself with our engagement photos, I will share the design after the wedding! As I write this it’s dawning on me that I never really shared our engagement photos. I will definitely have to do that, although it probably won’t be for awhile. Maybe I can do it after the honeymoon, when I’m “patiently” waiting for the wedding photos!

While trying to choose the style that we wanted, I poured over ideas. Photos are extremely important to me, so I knew I wanted something that would include photos. I saw some really awesome ideas, and some not so awesome ideas. I saw some really cheaply made scrapbooks with photo booth pictures that would last for oh about 2 years.  I saw some trees, some thumbprints, and more and more. Some of the ideas, while not really for me, were really original and unique – and I love that! Some of them were a little TOO much for me, kind of cheeseball. I knew I wanted something fun and classic, with photos, and high quality so that it would last for decades!

So I thought I would share some of the favorite ideas that I found while searching!

A Calendar!

This is by FAR my favorite that we decided not to do. Actually, I like this so much, we might still do it. It’s one of those things that doesn’t require a lot of work ahead of time, and can be added in quickly, so for any of my wedding guests, you might see a calendar on your way in!

This is such a cool idea to collect your loved ones’ birthdays, so that you can remember them every year! I LOVE me some birthdays people… like REALLY love them. I don’t just have a birth DAY, I have a birthday MONTH, yeah! So this idea is a really good fit! Then I can celebrate other peoples’ birthdays too. :)

Rolodex!

How cute is this? Guests can write their information and a message to the couple. That way the couple has up to date information, and a little file of well wishes! Guests can file the cards under the appropriate letter. With this the guests can include as much or as little information as they would like!

and finally…

Playlists!

I don’t have a photo for this one, but I saw this idea on the lovely blog from Calluna Events! They are a local event planning company, and have some great ideas on their blog, check THIS one out!

“Setup a music station on a laptop where guests can browse songs and each couple or guest can add a song to your wedding guestbook playlist with their name next to it.” This would be TOTALLY appropriate with our theme! The songs can be songs that remind them of the couple, or a good song from the dancing. The playlist can be listened to for years and will bring back a ton of fun memories!

Like I said, there are so many ideas out there for a guest book. And some couples may opt to do just a book where people sign their name! It’s one of those things that isn’t really ruled by etiquette, and is definitely up to the couple, which is kind of nice. There is no “must do” or “must have.” You can choose what suits your personality as a couple and really make it your own. Or you can do nothing! Hooray for choices!

Check out some of these ideas, and I would also love to hear some of your ideas too! Leave a comment below with any unique guest book ideas you may have. I still have a couple of weeks, who knows, I might add something to my own wedding! ;)
