How to Prepare for Boudoir Session: Skincare from Brooke Rock
Happy Tuesday, party people!
One of my amazing stylists sent me a special document on how to prepare for your boudoir session when it comes to skin care, and I LOVED it and asked her if I could put it into an article!
Okay ladies – raise your hand – how many of you hear the words skin care and think “yep I have a skin care routine, I wash my face with the washcloth after I wipe down my toddler!” I’m lucky if I clean off my makeup, and while I would love to blame it on my kids, the reality is that it’s really just me being lazy. However, when it comes to how to prepare for your boudoir session, your skin is INCREDIBLY important!
I have had the privilege of doing several sessions this year with this gorgeous lady, she is a killer stylist and once life calms down a bit for me, I can’t wait to do some crazy creative stuff with her.
Brooke Rock is a hair and makeup artist based in Denver, and has some tips on how to prepare for your boudoir session – specific to your skin. I know there is SO MUCH to think about, but really, your skin will show in pretty much every photo. Okay, every photo. Making sure that you have taken care of it leading up into your session is crucial!
I really am a lazy skincare gal… I wash my face with a washcloth. And water. How’s that for a skincare routine? The steps below are important, everyday tips, but especially before your session. Enjoy the tips, and as always please let me know if you have any questions about a boudoir session. How to prepare for your boudoir session can seem super overwhelming, but I promise it is well worth it.
DRINK WATER
Drinking water is essential, especially when you want your skin to look hydrated and at itβs all time prime! Shoot for half your weight in oz. a day!
WEAR SUNSCREEN
The last thing you want is to have splotchy or sunburned skin the day of your event! You want to protect your skin from any sun-damage so make sure to wear your sunscreen daily to ensure youβll have healthy skin.
Recommended Sunscreen: Image Skincare Preven on+ Moisturizing SPF 32+
MOISTURIZE
Moisturizing your skin pairs with drinking water. You want your skin to look radiant an hydrated for your event. Make sure to wear a nice moisturizer day & night.
EXFOLIATE/CLEANSE
We want a nice smooth surface so that your skin doesnβt appear to have dry patches. These βdry patchesβ (normally in your t-zone) are usually dead skin lingering on your face. So this is a must! Donβt forget to cleanse your face the day of as well!
