Denver Boudoir Photos – A Sneak Peek and Santa Bingo!

Okay so maybe one thing I didn’t mention in the title is that it really is SMARTASS Santa Bingo. Would you expect any less?

These past few months have been a bit of a whirlwind for me. I have been finalizing clients’ Denver boudoir photos and orders, and wrapping things up to start the new year fresh and with a bang! Blogging regularly and features are a HUGE priority for me in 2015, so you will start to see a ton more, but I wanted to share a sneak peek of an upcoming session, as well as a game that my husband and I made up yesterday while waiting in what some might think of as the tenth circle of Hell. But more on that in a few.

I have been so blessed to work with some of the most amazing clients! There are times that I have a specific look or purpose in mind for a session, and that is when you will see the Denver boudoir photographer model calls. Yes, they can be a little chaotic. I use the term “model” loosely, because it is pretty rare that I work with professional models. The models that I usually choose from these “model” calls are students, wives, mothers, and even grandmothers. I love to work with women who don’t necessarily have the experience modeling, because there is a connection there when someone is nervous in front of the camera. This is not to say that I don’t love the models I work with – I do – but for someone who isn’t used to being in front of the camera, baring it all is definitely a little more nerve racking.

I’m sure you’ve seen last year’s sexy holiday shots, although that full session hasn’t been blogged yet either. I promise I will get to it!

I had the opportunity to work with this beauty for some Christmas shots in September, and I can’t wait to show you her full feature! In the meantime, I didn’t want to write a post without sharing a beautiful photo, and since we are about 10 days out from Christmas, what better time than to think about some sexy gifts?

I have been completely booked for the holidays since about mid-November, so if you have contacted me for a session, we have probably talked about some alternatives! One of those alternatives is a gift card. I do offer gift cards in any dollar amount for someone special, it makes the perfect gift for any occasion. And guys, my husband told me to make sure I tell you this because it would be a selling point for him – I wrap it for you. Everything is all wrapped and pretty, ready to give to the woman you love! Contact me today to get your gift cards for the holidays! While the holiday deadlines are definitely more relaxed for gift cards, I want to make sure to get them to you in time to surprise her on that special day!

Okay, now onto the fun game. People often ask me whether I photograph families and children, and the answer isn’t so cut and dry. The real answer is: sometimes. The simple fact is, I love kids. We get along swimmingly. We laugh and talk about boogers and all sorts of funny things, and the secret is, sometimes I’m pretty much on the same maturity level as they are. The problem is usually when parents get involved. There is something about a parent that is trying to get their kid to look “perfect” for photos that turns us all – yes I’m including myself – into crazy people. “Smile son, no smile, not that smile, SMILE damnit!” It is exhausting trying to work with the kiddos, and calm the parents, and for that reason, I don’t usually work with kids or families. Plus, my true passion lies with women, and showing them how gorgeous they really are. I do make exceptions, however usually I work with women.

The word “women” includes all walks of life, but a LOT of the women that I work with are mothers. And several of my clients share the sarcastic, smartass sense of humor that tends to come out when we are working together. What can I say, I’m a smartass. I used to try to hide it, but as I get older, I find that to be a lost cause. So yesterday, when my husband and I were sitting in what we affectionately call the tenth circle of Hell – AKA the line to see Santa – we came up with a somewhat naughty game.

Yes, the fun of waiting to see Santa. We took the little to see Santa yesterday, and while usually this is something I cherish – real talk – I only want the photos. Sitting around, particularly while 9 months pregnant, is not exactly my cup of tea. I was kicked twice by two different children, to the point that I actually said the F word in the crowd. Yep, I was that mom, sorry folks. If your kiddos kick me, you might hear it.

The one thing that is rather entertaining while waiting to see Santa is the people watching. Seeing the dads that are pissed to be waiting, the moms trying to calm the kids, the grandparents trying to pretend like they’re enjoying the wait – it is definitely a site to be seen. So, we made up a game. Yes, it will be pinned to Pinterest so you can save it for later. Yes, there is even a downloadable PDF so that you can save it for printing when you take the kiddos this weekend. Don’t worry, I kept the swear words off of it so that if the kids see it, there isn’t too much damage done.

SO, for all of the mommies out there wishing they were in my studio, sipping on champagne and being pampered, for your entertainment value this holiday season, I give you, Santa Visit Bingo. I tried to include some easy ones along with the harder ones, like Rudolph!
