A Love Letter to Women Reclaiming Themselves This International Women’s Day From Your Favorite Colorado Boudoir Photographer
There’s something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately, in so many different areas of my life.
Every year on International Women’s Day, we celebrate powerful women throughout history – and we absolutely should.
Their contributions matter not only from a historical perspective, but moving forward, remembering the women who fought for the rights we have today. It’s sad that we have to keep fighting, but here we are, and we will continue working on the things that affect us and our daughters, granddaughters and more.
But what if we also stopped, just for a moment, and looked at ourselves?
Because the women I see every day in my Colorado boudoir photography studio aren’t just “inspiring someday.”
They’re in it right now.
And most of them don’t feel powerful when they walk in.
They feel nervous.
Uncertain.
Sometimes disconnected from themselves.
And still… they show up.

A Love Letter to the Women Finding Their Way Back
This is for the women who are rebuilding.
After the birth of a child.
After a breakup.
After watching their kids grow up and feeling their hearts pull in a million directions, watching them move into their own lives.
After a divorce.
After years of putting everyone else first.
This is for the women who look around one day and realize they don’t quite recognize themselves anymore… and decide they want to change that.
Not loudly.
Not performatively.
But intentionally.
I see you.
Because for every woman who is stepping fully into her life, becoming the main character, making bold decisions and claiming what she wants…
There are others standing right behind her.
Wanting to.
Longing to.
Thinking about it.
But still holding back.
What I See Inside My Colorado Boudoir Studio
When women book a boudoir session, it's rarely just about photos – it's about something much deeper.
It's about finally deciding:
"I'm done waiting."
I'm not going to wait to lose 10 pounds.
I'm not going to wait to feel confident.
I'm not going to wait for someone else to give me permission.
I'm not going to wait to LIVE MY LIFE.
Just… done waiting.
And here's the truth most people don't talk about:
Confidence doesn't come first, it comes after taking that terrifying step.
After you do the thing.
After you show up.
After you let yourself be seen.

Empowerment Isn’t Always Loud
We’ve been taught that empowerment looks bold. Fearless. Certain.
But most of the time, it’s quiet.
Sometimes it sneaks up in the little moments throughout our days that seem boring or small.
It might mean wearing the dress you love, even if your partner doesn’t like it.
It might mean saying YES to the opportunity that scares you.
It might mean taking that trip solo, because after years of asking, he doesn’t want to go.
It might mean booking that boudoir session, even if you’re nervous.
And that matters.
Because when women start showing up differently in their own lives, everything changes.
Their relationships.
Their boundaries.
Their businesses.
Their expectations.
This Is Bigger Than Just Photos
I started specializing in boudoir in 2009 because I wanted women to feel beautiful, but over time that evolved.
The biggest evolution came when my daughter was born in 2014, and I knew that I wanted her to really embrace her power, knowing that she is fully supported by me, and the amazing people in her life.
It’s not just about beauty.
It’s about power.
It’s about remembering – or discovering for the first time – that you are allowed to take up space.
That your voice matters, and you don’t have to accept less.
Because when women step into that and FULLY live it, it doesn’t just change their lives.
It changes everything around them.
A Love Letter, This International Women’s Day

So this is my love letter, to all of the beautiful souls who aren’t in the history books.
YET.
To the women who are thick in what might be the hardest part of their lives.
To the women who are rebuilding.
To the women who are saying hello, or goodbye.
To the women who are questioning everything.
To the women who know they want more, even if they don’t fully know what that looks like yet.
You are not behind, you are not too late, there is no magic timeline that will be “perfect.”
And you do not need to feel ready before you begin.
You are allowed to take up space.
In your home.
In your life.
In your family.
In your business.
In your body.
And if part of that journey includes seeing yourself through a different lens…
I would be honored to photograph you.
If this resonated,
The work I do – in my photography, writing and coaching – is rooted in safety, presence and self-trust.
Boudoir, for me, is not about forcing confidence or becoming someone else.
It’s about creating space where women don’t have to shrink, perform, or override themselves in order to be seen.
