Football Season Opener!

That’s right, I’m a football girl. I love it. I can’t really follow the stats and how each team moves up in the rankings because I don’t entirely understand it, but I’m okay with that. I like to watch it. I understand the rules. And there’s kind of a funny story behind how I know football rules so well, and it all goes back to my brother.

When we were little, we had an original NES. That’s right, don’t hate, we had one and we were AWESOME because of it. For you youngins out there, that’s a Nintendo Entertainment System. And we had the super cool game NES Play Action Football. At least I think that was the name of it, I can’t remember, and that’s all I can find. The YouTube videos look vaguely familiar. My brother wanted me to play football with him, so he would teach me the rules, very, very patiently. I was really, really horrible at passing so I would run my quarterback all the time, and he would get squashed. The graphics on the game made him look literally, squashed. He kept telling me I can’t run my quarterback like that all the time, and I didn’t get it. Now I understand a little more! So that, ladies and gentlemen, is how I know the rules of football. And now, I love it.

My entire family are Broncos fans, so I of course, am a fan as well. However, I am now engaged to a Bears fan. (The horror!) So now I have two teams to cheer for, and two games to watch every Sunday. Poor Kaden is so confused, so we’ve told him that he can choose two teams. It doesn’t have to be just one, right? Plus, they don’t play each other that often so it’s all good.

So right this very second, I am sitting at Old Chicago with my two most favorite guys, because both the Bears and the Broncos are playing at the same time. We don’t have cable, so to watch Bears games we have to go somewhere. Plus it works well because there are a million TV’s here so we don’t have to choose between the games, we can watch them both. And Old Chicago has free wifi. And I have things to work on. And the guys want to watch the games.

So everyone’s happy right?

This is a super old picture, but I love it. When Kaden turned three years old, my brother took him to Broncos Training Camp, and I made him this sign.

Go Broncos! And Bears. Now THAT’s love! I told Tom awhile back that Love is rooting for the Broncos unless they’re playing your Bears. I don’t think he bought it, but he tries.

Happy football season everyone! Good luck to all of your teams. Except the Raiders. I’m sorry Raider fans, I just can’t swing that way, it’s against everything in my being. ;)
