And the Winner Is… Kindness Challenge 2016 Wrapup!

A couple of weeks ago, I issued a challenge to all of my beautiful clients and ladies out there.

10 DAYS OF KINDNESS – not just to others, but to yourself as well!

I was kind of surprised at a little bit of backlash from this challenge. Really? Kindness to YOURSELF? What kind of self centered bullshit is that?

I have worked with thousands of women and see a recurring theme: The desire and need to take care of others, even to the detriment of ourselves.

While this seems valiant, at the same time, it is also something that needs to be remedied! With this particular kindness challenge, I wanted a reminder that WE are worth kindness as well. That we should never talk to ourselves in a way that we wouldn’t talk to another person. You can read more about the official Kindness Challenge rules here for 2016.

While it may seem like I’m on a soapbox to tell the world to be kind to themselves and I have it all together, the truth is, I don’t. This is something that I struggle with as well.

I may not struggle with it like others do when it comes to my looks – but I struggle with doing things that I like to do, BY MYSELF. Truth: I’m not really an alone kind of girl. I have been working on this, but here I am, my kids with grandma, and I’m working. Instead of doing the painting that I really want to do.

So while I really encourage clients to be kind to themselves, it is something that I struggle with and am working on too! This challenge was difficult for me, not kindness to others, but to myself – which is kind of ironic. Some feedback from the participants mirrored my own!

The responses to this challenge brought me to tears several times. The acts of kindness varied so much, from adopting families facing hard times for the holidays, to paying for someone’s coffee, to making chicken soup for someone, to forgiving ourselves for things, to leaving toys out for doggies at dog parks – the smiles, tears, and laughs were amazing! So who actually WON the $300 gift card, and what was the final result?

There were several amazing women that participated in the challenge, and several that participated 6 out of 10 days to be eligible! I broke out the trusty random number generator website and my spreadsheets to figure it out, and drumroll please….

Michelle B!

Congratulations Michelle, you did an amazing job and participated 8 days – and you win a $300 gift card! I need your address so we can get that out to you. :)

We had one participant who joined in on the challenge for ALL TEN DAYS. She even beat me, I forgot a couple of days too, slacker! So because she worked so hard on showing a little bit of kindness to the world AND to herself,

Kaylyn, you also win a $300 gift card!

A bonus, if you will. ;)

I am beyond thrilled to be able to work with the amazing women that I work with, and I can’t wait for 2017!

Love and Adventures,

Signature2
