Couples Boudoir Photography Feature: The Awesome Mr. & Mrs. S&N!

I am so excited to share today’s couples boudoir photography feature with you!

I have had the pleasure of working with Mrs. S previously, and her husband – although not in front of the camera. I worked with them a few years ago during a very special session, and Mr. N created some of the outfits that we used! Both of them are so sweet and funny, and we laughed so much during this session. Let’s just say – the sarcasm and hilarity definitely happened. A lot.

Couples boudoir photography sessions are hot – that is a given, you can see it from the resulting photos. But one thing that you may or may not realize is that these sessions are super laid back behind the scenes. The reality is that sometimes things that LOOK sexy, don’t necessarily feel sexy, and vice versa. I can take a photo that is super hot and my couples LOVE – but the process to get to that photo isn’t necessarily a super sexy process. For this reason, there is a lot of laughing and sometimes we have to stop to catch our breath, or touch up makeup because the tears are coming from laughter!

One of the things that I love most about couples boudoir photography sessions is when SHE sees herself as he sees her – sexy, confident, and gorgeous – and you can see the change in her demeanor. This happens during women’s boudoir sessions as well – but with couples, it is compounded because he is watching this transformation in front of him. Usually he has always thought of her as sexy, but sometimes we take some convincing, right guys? ;)

This session was SO much fun, and rather racy, even for couples boudoir! Here is more about the session, in the words of Mr. N and Mrs. S:

How do you feel about your body? How did you feel about being half naked in front of the camera? How did you feel after seeing the photos we created?

S: Before doing this session I had gained about 20lbs. I was feeling very insecure and like someone else was looking back at me when I looked in the mirror. So taking pictures half naked was a little nerve-racking. I’ve always just been lucky to stay thin while eating anything in sight…I turned 30 and everything just got so much harder. I have never been nervous to take pictures before but with this new weight I wasn’t sure I’d like what I was going to see. When I got the pictures back I cried….a good cry. They were beautiful. I had a new perspective of beautiful and myself. I may be 20lbs heavier but what I saw was still beautiful…still me!

During the session I felt at ease because I had my better half with me who already knows my fears and my body issues. He is always so encouraging and gives me strength and makes me feel beautiful. And Brooke, she is amazing to work with! Her positive and uplifting way puts all your insecurities to rest! She has a great eye for what’s going to work and excellent pointers in positioning so only the good parts show. She makes you feel beautiful and within minutes you forget you are half naked!

What is one piece of advice you would like to share with your younger self?

N: Think about it, life is great, slow down a little and don’t worry about silly things.

Why did you decide to do a couples boudoir session?

S: We have been lucky enough to have taken couples photos before (very PG photos) and they are so much fun. We thought the boudoir session would take regular photos to the next level…and be super sexy!!

N: I was a little nervous at first, I’m usually behind the scenes when S does photos. I make dresses look like they are blowing in the wind or hold the reflector but being in front of the camera is different. Brooke is great to work with so I knew it would be a great experience. I had no idea how hard holding a pose could be or how exactly to arch my back until my body was shaking to get the perfect shot. I have a new appreciation for S and what she does to get that perfect picture. The end result was just amazing and it was so much fun and we had a ton of laughs.

What is the thing you would want to share most with other couples when it comes to getting half naked in front of a camera?

N & S: When you’re doing something with the one you love you can do anything…even baring next to it all on camera. And you get great reminders how much fun you had and how hot you both looked.
